What group number is your new battery?

From the Sears website:

The P-5 Platinum Automotive Battery Group Number 35 from DieHard offers 100 minutes of reserve capacity and 740 cold cranking amps.

The P5 is 10 lbs lighter than my huge Odyssey 1700 (50 lbs vice 60+) so I am saving a wee bit of weight up front by moving the Odyssey amidship.

For those wondering, the Sears Die Hard Platinum P2 will also fit in the stock location.

Yes, it is actually a bit smaller left to right than the OEM plastic battery tray. I'll snap pics once my new fuse block wiring project is presentable

Power Pack Upgrade and Viair Install Phase 1

Today I upgraded the battery in my National Luna Power Pack from my old OEM Toyota battery to the Odyssey PC1700 MJT.
I also started fitment of my Viair 400C air system back there in the FlipPac, more on that install later. As you can see, air and power are pretty much a non-issue now

Camper Upgrades

Part of my total power upgrade, the Die Hard Platinum P5 under the hood with new OEM Toyota battery tie down waiting for the new Blue Sea 12 circuit negative bus fuse block and some housecleaning on several years of add on wiring...
*Also note the red 3/8 fuel line coming down from the oil filter mount. This attaches to the drain nipple there and I use that hose to direct any leftover oil from the filter to a container during oil changes.

The ARB X-Jack and my big medical kit have a nice home along the wall of the FlipPac, and I moved the Engel display closer to the fridge and added a magnetic strip from Ikea that can hold various kitchen bits

Note the magnet below the bottle opener to catch bottle caps and the cup from Ikea that serves as catch all in camp as well as a cup holder. Also added the RV level to make spotting and leveling the camper easier.

Nice job on the "total power upgrade"! Are you running all your house power to the NL power pack, keeping the winch and aux driving lights tied to the starting battery, or some other combo?

The X-Jack looks alot more compact than a hi-lift, and safer too.
I like the addition of the RV level. I've been using two levels inside the cab, one level just below my dash and one on the B-piller for a few years now.
I also carry two Fiamma Level-Up ramps to alleviate looking for rocks, especially in the dark. If my camp site isn't level, I make it so.

Decide on a water storage/delivery system yet?

Yes, all "house power" needs like fridge, LED lighting, and air compressor are drawn from the NL power pack.

Winch, Lightforces, stereo, CB, and any future in-cab power needs will all be drawn from the Die Hard Platinum/OEM charging system under the hood.

I'm still looking, key for me is fitting it in where I have space. Equipt has a really nice footwell water tank and a couple other options from Frontrunner that look promising. AT has one hell of a hot water shower system too.

All in good time, I'm running out of things to add...

You should still carry both just in case your vehicle decides to stop running or breaks down and will not pump exhaust to fill the Xjack. Plus for better safety, a HighLift jack should be used along with it.

Unless they can be filled with air also??
I don't own one, but like the concept also.

You can use an air compressor to fill it up too. My Hi-Lift lives in the garage now.

+1. I see absolutely no reason to ever carry a Hi-Lift again. The X-Jack works fine with a compressor.

PS- I've been using that same Sears battery for over a year. At first, the fit concerned me a bit. I suspected it might move around on the trail but it's been rock solid. Very happy with it.

Thanks, just what I need. More ideas for mounting gear...

I can actually picture the Thule "countertop table" mounted to a couple of the "pods" on the windoor side of my truck for multiple uses.:drool:

Safety?? Depending on an air bag as the only support while working on or under a vehicle is similar to using a floor jack with no jack stands.

You should still carry an extra way to help support your rig, or find something to stack. Now an Xjack along with a HighLift sounds real solid along with the easy use and storage of the Xjack. Not every situation is on flat, soft ground or just a simple tire change...

Common "How To" Questions:

How to reset the Maintenance Required Light:
1. Start truck
2. Make sure Odometer is set to ODO xxxxx
3. Turn key to full off position
4. Push odometer button and hold
5. turn key back to on position
6. Continue holding the odometer button
7. Dashes will appear where the mileage should be located, the dashes will then disappear one by one. Hold button tell they are all gone!
1 sec(- - - - -) 1.5sec(- - - -).. (- - -).. (- -).. (-)
When the dashes are gone the odometer will blink your current miles once, and the maintenance required light will turn off.

How To Reset the Check Engine Light:
1. Turn off truck
2. Open hood
3. Disconnect negative battery cable from terminal
4. Wait 2 minutes
5. Reconnect negative battery cable
6. Close hood
7. Start truck
8. Check engine light should be off!
Note:
The Maintenance Required Light is different than the Check Engine Light

Directions For Engaging 4LO In Your Tacoma:
1) If you have a Automatic Transmission you must be stopped and in Neutral.
2) If you have a Manual Transmission you must be stopped and the clutch must be in all the way.
