Awesome! Once again Scott Brady leading the way... :clapsmile

Bluetooth hands-free calling might be a nice feature with Mygig :iagree:

x2... but for some reason I'm thinking Scotty has some fancier comm equipment in mind

Nah, man, the Unlimiteds are 4 doors. ER must re-do the body, I presume, to get rid of those two back doors.

Yeah, being a function freak, I thought it'd be super cool if those half rear doors opened to provide some uber-cool access to something. Cassette Toilet perhaps. or a slideout generator, or a flip down shower platform. It seems a waste to just weld the doors up.

You know, I had that same thought when I first saw pix of the XV-JP.

You know what this thread really needs now? A countdown to the day the snorkel gets installed.

Perhaps a pool: which comes first, the Exped West decals or the fording kit?

I don't get it. Is the pool for testing the snorkel?? :)

ooo... I say decals first because if there is a diesel in the future you don't want to cut into the fender right.?

Unless there is an AEV heat reduction hood/snorkel combo in the future? I think I saw a pic of those somewhere...

I see a trailer as a 70-80% likelihood at the moment. It will somewhat depend on what Pasquale and Kristina drive and their space and capacities too.

I'll be watching this part with interest. I find the 70 series Cruiser's 60/40 rear ambulance doors barely make access possible with the trailer attached. With the XV-JP's single large door you're going to need a long tongue with no coolers etc on it on order to be able to open the door while the trailer is connected.

Seems like just yesterday that we saw that same big happy, cheesy grin while you stood in front of a new '04 stock double cab Tacoma at the local Toyota dealership.

Man, time flies....

Looking forward to how much this build and outfit will blow me away. Let the coolness commence!

NO KIDDING! I remember emailing my invoice for the same Taco. He took it and used for leverage. Clever dude! :wings:

Scott: You keep impressing me. You set goals and constantly achieve them. I admire you greatly and wish you and Stephanie the best.

The first Unlimiteds were 2 doors, with long bodies, almost like the Scrambler. Maybe that was the platform for the first XV-JP.

Look through this thread, there are a number of the 2 door Unlimiteds. Beowulf, Dynamike, Kodiak1232003, .....

That being said, the Jeep shown on the Earth Romer website, looks like it started life as a 4 door.

Maybe this is a silly question:

What are the load capacity of the axles? Will they need to be upgraded to reliably support the load in the Jeep, and the trailer, under power, on less than perfect roads?

Want to sell the seats? I reckon that with the JK being so new a conversion like yours may be the only opportunity I'll get.

Cheers

Thew Rubi's have pretty damn beefy axles right from the factory, and I'd say that after ER's tests running to South America & the Rubicon without any carnage (that we know of) proves that they're OK. If Scott wants to go crazy, he can always upgrade the shafts.

yeah? lowenbrau is right! how are you going to open the back door? besides having the trailer un hooked. well i guess you could jack knife it to the driverside... maybe? weird. maybe scotts will have a hatch back window instead of a full door.

After establishing the functional specifications for the JP, we reviewed all of the Rubicon systems for sufficient durability (i.e. reserve capacity).

Here are the specifications on the axle, which I more than sufficient IMO

Dana 44 Front Axle: 3,300 Rating
Dana 44 Rear Axle: 4,500 Rating

Nearly 8,000 lb. of rated axle capacity, which is about 2,500 lb. above the JP's weight.

Sweep area of the braking system is also quite good.
