Frustrated Dealers May Succeed in Getting Corp to Reduce Ram Truck and Jeep Prices

Dealers still offering big discounts around here. Thing is, these big discounts still don't make up for how much manufactures jacked up MSRP's in the past two years. The red F150 Lariat pictured? That price is for a base STX. 61K is what I paid for a loaded 302A two years ago.....

Price gouging up and down the supply chain.

Unemployment at basically 4%, stocks at record highs, is a strong economy regardless of what you're supposed to believe. It's basically economic sabotage using Covid excuses and misinformation to widen the gap of "you and them".

Question- how many vehicles are sold by the Big 3 to governments in the U.S.? Next, how many are sold to large corporations?

Some buyers don't care what the price is, seems someone said "let them eat cake".

I bet, if you check it out, prices of goods and services are up all over the industrialized world.

Its refreshing to see this thread seem to hit the nail on the head over and over about how its simple consumers and market greed that have driven costs higher and nothing from politics. The economy is strong and people have money/debt to spend.
I find people often forget that if they want a higher wage, they have to sell their product at a higher cost. Its just a cycle although it has exploded more recently.

As long as people want to buy new things and creditors lend them stupid amounts of money to do so, they'll keep buying new stuff. I'm definitely on the train of keeping my paid off current vehicles and "low" mortgaged home for longer than initially intended.

I paid $41k for my 2016 Rubicon in 2016. The closest comparable model is now $62k. To get the upgraded Alpine audio and Nav like mine has, apparently I'd have to now also get 4G Wifi, Apple Car-Play, and Off-road cameras. Plus Rubicons also now come standard with LED headlights and taillights, additional airbags, full-float rear axle, pre-wired aux switches, trailer sway dampening, back-up camera, 12.3-in center screen, and a 7-in driver screen display instead of gauges....
The list goes on but over the cost of greed or inflation, the standard/included features with options is driving costs up. Not that I'm saying these features are bad, but their costs add up quickly. Maybe that's a large part of the extra $20k.

Market greed? You seem to gloss over all the free money pumped into the economy the last few years- and that’s not political as both parties pushed it.
Classic example of deflection, skillfully taken by "whataboutism" with misdirected blame being inferred.

Yes, it's pure greed, complete with excuses and justifications with the blessing and approval of about half those who were voted in office. Thing is, rather the question is, who benefits from inflationary moves, who claims this period as having "high" inflation when it's barely above the ideal rate?

The auto industry, like everything else, lost money during Covid, while income was lost liabilities continued to grow sinking value which loses equity, they lost money. If that "free money" had not been pumped in to the economy those loses would have been much worse and this greed factor to catch up for losses would be much worse than it is.

After November, you may see positive price adjustments to reduce this false rate of inflation, but understand that large corporations, the crusty one half of the top one percent, use the economy as a tool, especially oil prices, anything that can be used to influence the public to see things their way, will be tried and done.

Now, if you had picketers walking the line of car dealers and factories, prices might come back to reasonable.

Guessing dealers are seeing a slowdown. The deals keep popping up here. Still not 'reasonable' yet. But heading in the right direction.

Funny reading about the strong economy schtick in this thread. Full time employment is DOWN, real wages are down. Unemployment numbers are wonderful because of government employment and garbage part time employment. Almost all growth is due to deficit spending and treasury pumping. Real inflation is still climbing after peaking at 13% (yes, you have to include food fuel and housing prices). Credit default rates are the highest since the crash. Commercial real estate is in a bloodbath freefall. If I was running for president I'd walk away and let whoever "wins" enjoy the bubble popping sound.

Yes dealers are sitting on huge amounts of inventory. They are fine because they can park their cash in their floor line and collect 7-10% for it just sitting there. Prices are ridiculous because the buying power of your dollar is 30% less than it was four years ago. On everything. And they won't come down.

Your economic education is clearly from the minds trying to manipulate a change in leadership and our governmental structure. It truly is fake news, I'll just say propaganda.

Your personal economic reality is only as good as you think it is. There are some folks in this country that would/could pay twice the going price for a new truck and not flinch writing the check. There are powers that be that actually try to sabotage our economy to influence the peasants not to support those "running" the economy, like they are at fault for current circumstances. That's the game.

Several years ago Warren Buffett said something like "there is a war between the wealthy and the middle class, and the middle class is losing."

I see all those people lining up to scratch 200k checks for F150s….😆😆😆- all in the name of patriotism, but before you said it was greed, I can’t keep up 😆😆😆😆they say laughter is good for the soul so I’ll stick around.

You're correct. "You'll eat bugs and say thank you" seems to be the message of MY PARTY. There's a big hint in there. We gotta do better. Last slightly political thing I'll ever write in this forum. Hopefully.

That's a bit twisted but entertaining. Most Americans and most here can't grasp the concept where "money is no object" you're not wealthy unless you can scratch $200,000.00 checks for a F-150. It's not out of patriotism, your words not mine, it's more like buying the pot in a poker game and you don't get to play.
