I have seen many designs for spare wheel carriers, but the integration you have with the bike carrier is very neat indeed.
Your method would make for much safer loading of the bike than many other systems I have seen.
Did you design and build this yourself or was it done commercially?

The lift was initially designed and fabricated by Darrin Fink, who put the basic truck and house together. I redid some details [specifically strengthening and increasing the safety of the original design] and added the motorcycle rack. Worked out the design details with a friend and then we fab'd it.
One significant criterion was that the whole things was easy enough to operate that the bike would be readily accessible. I travel with a nylon cover on the bike to keep layers of mud off since I travel back roads as much as possible. It takes about 3 minutes to have the bike on the ground ready to start, and perhaps 4 min. to put it back on and up for travel again. This for me is a real winner.

Yep, I agree completely!!
I carry with me:
1) a replacement 2000# winch and line w/hook; total cost ~ 65.00 USD; this can be bolted in in either an 'up' or 'down' position;
2) a replacement line [~35'];
3) two replacement pulleys; ~ 18.00 USD.
All of this takes up way less than 1% of my under-bed storage; I view it as a very acceptable 'insurance policy'. I'd potentially be screwed without the winch; replacing all of its elements is easy and affordable.

I am happy — indeed, flattered — that you think it looks like a good solution. So far, it has worked that way for me!
The pics I posted above are the most detailed I have, and since we fab'd things incrementally and by trial and error, I have no drawings.
If you were serious [as opposed to merely curious] about building something and some more detailed pics could help, I'd be willing to try to do some photography. But the fact is that I am actively preparing for a 4 month excursion to the remotest parts of the Yukon this spring, so I do have a lot on my plate [and not lots of available time to do otherwise interesting or generous things.]
So let me know of your level of specific interest. Or, perhaps since you live in So Oregon, you'd like to come to Bend and see it first hand?

John, thanks for the generous offer to show me your camper. I'm mostly curious about what you worked out for the sliders or how the tubes telescope. I have a design that that I'm sure will work, but there is always a chance that yours may be better. A description or a couple of closeup photos would be appreciated.
