Post your tents

Springbars are cool. Never really heard of them before. That would make an awesome base camp for long distance camping. Ive got a couple of collapsible Army cots from my dad that could be put into one of the 3 person tents no problem it seems. Great alternative to an RTT. Any pics of the inside and what model you use?

This is called the Traveler 5. It sleeps 4 with gear very well. I don't have a cot, but it would be perfect to store your gear under the cot, and keep the area by the door clear.

Simp801, Do you by chance have a shot of this thing packed up? Curious how small it packs down. I know its a bit portly, we have some space issues in the Forester. Have you had any experience with there other stuff. Their car awning and roof storage bags are pretty cool and quite resonably priced I think.

Thanks!

I am using the Big Agnes Flying Diamond 6. It is a good strong tent for 3-4 season camping. We are still getting the bugs worked out of our interior setup but a queen size fits smooth in the forward section of the tent. unfortunatley this also means you have to use a blow up (which we hate) and that in turn changes the standing room in the tent.
I like the Cabelas Alaknak also with the exception of the weight and setup times.

Thats awesome. Great pic and exactly what I was looking for. That looks immense in side. Looks big enough for two or three people and enough room to move cooking/ eating inside if it warranted it. How do you like canvas tents?

By the way, it looks damn cold there.

Thank you !

Did you ever trying to use that tent in cold weather near zero (maybe :) )

We have the Springbar family tent, I think it is about 12 x 14. Huge!
Anyways, it is awesome in all weather, we have used it in Canada in the winter time above 6000 - 7000 feet. Super cold. The lake freezes, the water bottles all freeze, the air-lines on the unimogs freeze... no tent issues.

When we have camped in SEVERE rain we have brought the tent home and opened it up in a room in the house to dry out before we pack it up again. A bit of a hassle but well worth it. This thing stays put when the wind is uprooting trees.

Cheers

Just here...
Got my tent last week and had to set it up in the backyard right away. Very, very easy to set up time and effort wise for something as big as this. I wanted to be able to stand up in it and have more than enough room for two cots and gear if the weather gets bad. I got the vestibule for the ability to separate the main tent from the bugs outside and also, to sit and relax under.

Big Agnes Big House 4 with footprint and vestibule:

^With rainfly on (not tightened at all)

^Cool window/ skylight lets you see outside with the fly on

^With vestibule attached. PLENTY of room for me to sit under in a chair if the weather were to turn

^Interior views. Lots of built in storage nets, great floor to wall welds and tons of room inside.

Its nice and big but once packed, it isnt really heavy and could be used as a backpacking tent if you are going with another person. I could easily carry the tent suitcase and vestibule along with a day or two worth of clothes if someone else carried the food, etc...

Im loving it.

You Asked What I use/like - well here is my favorite!

Beckell Canvas Products, Portland, OR
(www.beckelcanvas.com)

EENA TT Tent with canvas roof. 14' x 14', 10' center height. Wgt = 34#, NO FLOOR!

Advantage: Weight, very roomy + Excellent shedding wind, rain and snow load, AND takes a wood or other heating stove very well.

A great tent used mostly in horse packing in the mountains. I've had 15" of wet snow on mine w/o problem! Love it - but maybe not what most might want for vehicle camping unless in winter, etc.:wings:

I find it just right for two people, and a bit too small for both of us and our 65# German Wirehaired Pointer. Other than size, it is easy to put up and packs down to a fairly small size.

I also have a Coleman Peak1 Cobra 2-person backpacking, but don't have any pictures of it.

I finally have my own Springbar!!! Every time i would borrow my dad's, he would inspect it making sure it came back in the same great condition that i took it in. Now i do the same thing to mine. My dad has had his Springbar almost his whole life, and i plan to do the same.

I love my Springbar.
