*Rickashay's 04' Tundra* - A build of Compromises

Agreed. I posted in your thread, did I hear right that your doing a Tundra SAS?!

I have rear extended brake lines and have the LSPV relocation bracket. Factory E-brake cable, although I bent one of the brackets a little to allow more slack in the line at full droop. There isnt much more room to move though... even with my rear line extension, with much more droop I would need more brake line extension.

AAL is from The Gear Shop in Calgary. BUT that being said I might be pulling the trigger on some Alcans/Deavers right away if you want to pickup a AAL or factory pack with AAL in the next little bit. Shoot me a PM.

Also, Eric requested a photo of the shackle angle at static ride height - see below.

It's in the works. FJ80 based axle and radius arm suspension for bullet proof performance.

Of course! I'll even do it here on ExPo. I think this is my new home. The other forums are either dying or full of haters.

Truth. The same reason I hang around here so much - not a lot of BS and people forcing their opinions down your throat. Lots of creativity here and good constructive criticism.

Excited for the build. Gives me a glimpse at what mine can look like when I win the loto and ship my truck down to you. :) Hopefully this summer. haha

Do you carry a spare tire?

Negative. And I'm an idiot for not. I have a tire patch setup and OBA. Usually wheel with guys who do carry 35" spares. That being said, I have made my recent cargo "organizer" in mind of throwing a 35" spare in there on longer trips.

That's the only reason I want a swingout. Darn spare robs so much bed space. And I only have 33s!

Truth. Try it when you have a tonneau cover and everything needs to lay below 17" of bed height! It's an exercise in organization, thats for sure.

Might start a listing over here on Expo but wanted to link the for sale ad here to get more exposure. Would like it to go to a good home within the community.

It's the one thing that keeps me from hacking my bedsides and building a high clearance bumper. I want to keep the spare under the bed but I think it will look goofy having it hanging down lower than the bumper.

I've seen it done. Saw a guy with an F250 that had a spare 35ish underneath lower than everything else. Killed his departure angle.

It's on too bad. That's where I keep my 35" spare.

So many photos to go through. Hoping to put together a short 60s video as well. I can't think of a better way to spend Canada day, than being out and enjoying it in all it's glory. I love this place.

This the same cabin you went to last year? I swear the terrain looks even more impressive this trip

Same place as last fall, yes. I had to head back there and see it in the summer. Still lots of snow as you can see. SO many more trails/roads to explore out there. Boggles my mind. haha

Amazing!!!

Thanks! Great way to spend the Canada Day long weekend thats for sure.

Beautiful scenery, and I like your dad's Tacoma

Thanks Eric. Do your shackles work on 1st Gen Tacos? He needs some more lift in the rear. I wonder if the dimensions are the same. Any idea?

UPDATE

Speaking of shackles....

I just wanted to give an update on the rear suspension setup from Eric ^ at Archive Garage.

This was my first trip out with the longer 6" AG greaseable shackles, coupled with the SFK kit. As previously mentioned, I am sitting higher in the rear now with the longer shackles. I really consider it to be the PERFECT ride height for these trucks. I gained a little lift but in doing so, also gained a little more bump travel. WOW the difference in ride quality in this series of suspension adjustments is crazy. The truck has never felt smoother and made me realize how I must have been bottoming out the rear end a lot before and just thought it "normal". Now there is the perfect balance of droop travel vs. bump and the ride characteristics are awesome. Definitely a smoother setup that OE, no doubt! I logged 1000kms in the truck this weekend and 200-300kms of those were traveled at high speeds on fire roads or on some slow 4-low crawling type trails. The suspension was great in all areas, but I am just so happy with the truck at speed. With some REAL leaf packs in place and possibly some more tuning on the shock valving, I could consider the rear end "done". Dare I say it?

I can't recommend the SFK and longer shackles enough at this point and let's just say there may be an "expo" type leaf pack available soon to complete the whole package. :Wow1:

Archive Garage now has these kits in stock and are ready to ship, so head on over there if your looking for an excellent, engineered system, that is also up-gradable.
