Would this Chevy Silverado 3500 be a good purchase?

L96/6l90e My 2011 2500 has been reliable. I had to do exhaust manifold bolts due to an exhaust leak, and an o2 sensor. It keeps throwing a code for a bad cat which I don’t plan on doing anything about. Ive owned it from 90k and now at 170k.

    Ground Clearance Needs

My summer tires are 33 on 20. My winter tires are 32 on 17. There’s a slight improvement with the 17’s. I’m on E load tires running about 50 psi.

New to campers and surprised by the high prices. How come a camper is half the cost of a car?

I was working on a new big fifth wheel that had no brakes. The transport guy was the one that pointed it out. I wasted some time on that one. Long story short they didn’t connect the axle wires(brakes) to anything. I found the brake wires tucked up into the underbelly.

    Water Tank placement and size?

With a variable load like that I would want it low and close to the axle. If you mount it too far forward or back your tongue weight is gonna fluctuate a lot.

Just for fun. This is from one of forest rivers higher end models. A micro lite. Careful when you’re reaching for a fresh pair of socks under your bed.

Truck recommendation for TC and pulling bass boat

3800 loaded? And if you want to tow the boat at the same time add 300 for tongue weight. You’ll need a one ton for that kind of payload. Pick whatever make or engine you like but remember Diesel engine trucks have less payload.

Camping World is buying up all the other dealers and changing their techs from hourly to flat rate. There’s no way a tech will do as good a job when he’s constantly watching the clock hoping he’ll make enough hours to cover his bills that week. Camping World’s CEO gets a bonus and the customer...

MPPT controller size and AC-DC battery charger needs?

Yeah you definitely don’t need 2 converter chargers. If you’re not using that third bank have you thought of getting rid of it and connecting the solar power to the house bank? If the third bank batteries are better than your house batteries move 2 of those 6v batteries to the house bank...

MPPT controller size and AC-DC battery charger needs?

The 100/30 I had is good for 440 watts, you could probably go with a smaller one if you weren’t adding more solar. You want to replace that converter/charger with a battery charger? The converter is more than a battery charger. It supplies the 12v fuse panel in your camper as well.

New to campers and surprised by the high prices. How come a camper is half the cost of a car?

Forest river sells a couple similar campers. The floor is made of unpainted OSB and it’s exposed to the elements/ tire spray etc. I wonder how long before they rot, 7-8 years? Sad thing is they’re still about $25k.
