No PBR and Natty Light are cheap beers. Sorry, on my EMS salary I can't afford the finer beers. Lol
Why has everybody on here had an attitude lately

X2. I can get a lot of parts at the local dealer. Toyota is one of the few companies that still support old vehicles. I believe I should be able to go to mercedes and get parts for my 404 as well.

I used to easily get parts for my w123 at the local mb dealer- and other parts were only a day away. Again, these dealers arent necessarily close though, and if you have an old truck, you make friends at dealers who will ship em out to you. Lol.

It is entertaining to watch the "Expo" house of cards crumble...
On a high level, this site has done an excellent job as a marketing machine for the "overland" industry, promoting and selling you on a shiny, glamorous idea of "exploring" and "expedition-ing", when the reality is we are just a bunch of people who like 4 wheel drives and pretty pictures.
I swear, you read some of the stuff on here and you would think these people are Livingstone himself, blindly adventuring their way around the world in the name of philanthropy and to cure world hunger or some nonsense.
It provides excellent entertainment value, but really that guy in a tilley hat with the full stainless steel kitchen in the back of his FJ Cruiser and the iPad running the most up to date GPS navigation software is just a nerd with a computer software degree and a serious Napoleon complex.

Ohhhhhh...sssssnnnnnaaaaapppp...

I began ditching the pre-made sammiches and just make my own. Very good and not all bread.

Truth. Seems like the guy with the tablet and three GPS's in his truck is the guy asking where are we and where are we going. Also surprises me how many people have no idea how to put something into google maps and get it to take you to your destination. Had that happen on a trail ride a couple months ago. Everyone was following me because I'm the only one who knows how to google the trail head, and follow it to the trail head.

There's nothing wrong with a good drinking beer like PBR. After all, it didn't get that Blue Ribbon for nothing! ;-)
Some of this "hipster hippy designer beer" ******** makes me want to puke.

I happen to love overland gourmet cooking, but sometimes, it gets to be too much. But its like airplane travel in the 60's and 70's. A lot of "glamour". But it doesn't matter, it takes all types.

Will the bubble ever burst...

I hate to admit it on here but I am going camping next week...and I might even leave the fridge at home and use a cooler. And I will most likely eat Hemingway stew...and possibly hotdogs...probably cold...

Feeble... Interesting

In reality, vehicles don't break themselves, driver do. A poor driver cannot adapt his/her driving style to the vehicles strengths and weaknesses. Sorry Matt but it's a fact..

But you admitted to the VADD - so good on you

Interesting last post form Transient and spot on the mark; but don't put the blame on Expo's shoulders, pretty much all the mags worldwide are on the route; they have lost there way and lost touch. More so now than in the last five years proper Overlanders are looking at the bolt on bits market and the techy market and questioning "Why do I need that?" Simple is good. Bling just pisses off the poverty stricken masses and makes you a target...

We build our vehicles to follow the guidance of Lovejoy's Laws of Vehicles Preparation and Use and Rule 4 says "Use what you need not what you want". Rule 5 says " Chose a vehicle and stick with it - modify yourself to suit the vehicle"

So if you like the FJ40 - and what a truck that is - stick with it and modify yourself
