Hi guys,
have been forced to post this project on Expo too, so here it is:

It`ll be similar to this unit:

The difference is that my version will have a lot more power and i`m planning on going up to 50mph.

Tracks will be build similar to my Mini Hägglund, power will be delivered by a 24 cui 2cyl 27hp motorcycle engine with a 6 speed gearbox. Should give me a slow gear to pull some stuff and speed to have some fun...


Started putting some stuff together. Those are the four sprockets that i`m going to use:

I need to get the motor first to decide on the final dimensions. Lenght would be ok on that picture, but i think it should be narrower.

Then i started machining the first part, a sprocket to axle adaptor:

Machined the two hubs for the sprockets that will be welded to the axles:

First i bought some steel today:

Then i started fabricating the two missing sprocket flanges:

That`s the motorcycle that donates the engine and stuff:

After a hour of work:

When i finished parting it out i continued working on the two removable sprockets. I started by sawing a hole:

And bored it out:

The i started machining the flanges between the sprockets and the axle. They will be mated together by those things that i don`t know what they`re called in english. By tightening the bolts you pull two tapers into each other and the friction holds the flange and axle together. Started by boring out the flanges to fit those things in:

Both of them finished:

Then i turned down some scrap to the same diameter than the axle will be:

And munted the flange with one of those things and turned a center on it:

Welded them in:

Then i started with the flange for the brake disc:

And drilled some holes:

Started building the flange for the chain sprocket:

Then i milled out a disc:

Finished:

Put it on the lathe:

Then i started with the front axle by welding the fixed frive sprocket on it:

And turned it down:

Dialed in the tailstock:

Front axle finished:

Also brought the engine in the shop:

Thanks guys, i think it should be driving next week...

Started building the drive axle today. First i turned it down ...

...to fit all the flanges:

Welded them on:

Turned it to the final dimensions...

Fit`s:

Then i turned the flange for the brake disc:

Flipped it around and finished the flange for the sprocket:

Put everything together:

Then i started with the frame:

Ok Steinez, although I think this is a very cool project I take offense to you saying that you where `forced´to make a thread here. Is this not where it all started? Your red Blazer, the Delicious, the Hågglund, and now the moter dog! Come on Steinez, you know your best fan base is here and we back you up on all your projects...... I just want to see this one driving!:drool: I can hardly wait....

The chain drive didn`t work out like i thought it would, so i had to remove the sprocket flange:

Then i reused a sprocket i had laying around from the Hägglund:

Then i changed the rear axle mount for the brake caliper:

MAde a mount for it:

And welded it on:

Then i started cutting parts for the frame:

Welded up the rear part:

And the front part:

Now we got a roller:

Then i started with the battery tray:

All parts together:

Welded:

On it`s place:

Finished:

Also got the rubber for the track:

Started with the track tensioners today by drilling some flat:

Turned the spindles:

Everything together:

Tacked in:

Put the exhaust back on the engine. Broke the second one off when i was trying to get it off the collector Ordered two harley ones...

Then i started with the upper frame:

Tacked the rear engine mount together:

Tacked it in:

Front one:

Then i started thinking about the chain drive:

Wanted to reuse the sprocket flange so i faced it...

...bored it out...

...welded in a piece of round stock...

...and bored it out:

Turned down the shaft:

And welded on the flange:

Flipped it around and turned it down:

Finished:

At it`s place:

"Needs more triangulation", i know...

okks like the exhaust still fits:

Thought about the tank position:

Mocked up a frame:

I`m absolutely lucky, all wires are long enough. After two hours the wiring doesnt lokk that bad anymore, does it?

Also mounted the cockpit:

Used old Hägglund part`s to fabricate the handlebar mount:

Turn`s out ways bigger than i thought it would...

Well you know what they say Steinez, bigger is always better. Good progress and I can see this thing coming together fast. Its going to be cool to see it drive..

Started building the height adjustment for the handlebars:

Then i fabricated the mount for the handlebars:

Mounted the mufflers first today:

Then i reworked the clutch cable:

Cleaned up the wiring and stuff:

Mounted a hitch and a shackle to fit future trailers:

Then i just had to place some rubber where the track will be:

Started with the chain covers today:

There will be some conveyor belting to protect me from crap that the track picks up and throws at me:

Then i stripped it:

Put on my welding clothes:

And welded everything up:

Also picked up some steel for the track:

Going to paint it tomorrow. As long as the paint is drying i`m going to clean the carbs and built the track. Then i just have to assemble everything and i should be ready for a test drive...
